Wellington Cross Country Championships, Waikanae Park, 14 July 2007  

Another glorious day out on the coast (just like the Varsity Relays) - blue sky, the ground surprisingly firm and dry after the soggy week we've had in Wellington. The southerly picked up slightly in the late afternoon. 

The men's race (12k) was won by Tauranga's Dale Warrander (39:12), by about 170m on Scottish's Rees Buck (Wellington champion, 39:47), followed by Ben Ruthe (Tauranga, who came second in the Gold Coast Marathon a fortnight ago), with Scottish's Dougal Thorburn, fourth. Other members of the winning Scottish counting team of six were James Coubrough, Scott Ferguson, Julian Cook and Stephen Day.  Alice Mason (WHAC, Wellington champion) handily won the women's race (8k), followed by clubmate Vicki Humphries and Suzi Richards (Kap). Scottish's Alice Wilson was fifth.

86 runners (plus two who pulled out with minor injuries) and 12 walkers from Scottish competed, supported by another dozen or so members.
