Brooks Waterfront 5k Series, 15 December 2009

Tonight we saw an outstanding run from Kate McIlroy. She smashed the women's course record (previously 16:50 run by Melissa Moon in 2005) with a time of 16:26. Well done, Kate. World class! Yellow Shirt Tour Leader Brian Garmonsway just held out a fast finishing Grant McLean to win the men's race in 15:59. Tim Dutton (29:21) and Terri Grimmett (30:42) continued their winning ways with very good times. Weather conditions were reasonable, with a moderate southerly noticeable on parts of the course.

This week was the final week in the participation competition. This competition rewarded the participants who completed the most races from 15 September to 15 December. Amazingly we had 11 people that did all 14 races. Congratulations to Brian Hayes, Cathal Curtin, Chris Hanson, Chris Homan, Damon Pritchard, Jenn Bonnett, Jessica Clayton, Neil Price, Patrick TeTau, Peter Bratby and Simon Holmes. Three received a Brooks prize pack valued at $200 and the eight others received a Brooks prize pack valued at $100.

We look forward to seeing you back next week for the final race before Christmas. We will then be back racing on 5 January.
