69 competitors were greeted by warm conditions and blue sky, with a moderate northerly wind, for the Brooks Waterfront 5km race on 23 February. First time competitor Jamie Stewart recorded the win with a time of 16min 45sec. Jamie is in training for the NZ orienteering champs and last year he won the Tararua mountain race. Abbey Macfie was the first women to finish in 20min 41sec, just out sprinting Sarah Haughey. Ian Morton made the most of Tim Dutton's absence to win the walk in 31min 40sec with Terri Grimmett (32.42) winning the women's walk. Our sponsors Brooks, Lifestyle Sports in Tawa and The Loaded Hog continue to support our races and deserve your support in return.

Participation competition
As an added incentive to your training we can announce the return of the
popular Participation Competition.
If you compete in at least six events between now and the end of the series
on 6 April 2010, you will go into a draw for a range of great prizes.
So what are you waiting for? Put on those running/walking shoes and come
and join us on the Waterfront - be part of the movement.
Our regular weekly spot prizes from Brooks, Lifestyle Sports and the Loaded
Hog will also continue. A Brooks shoe voucher will also be handed out
soon.
And remember, all participants are rewarded for their efforts with a
thirst-quenching free drink at the Loaded Hog.
