110 competitors were greeted by overcast but warm conditions, with a light northerly wind, for the Brooks Waterfront 5km race on 9 February. Jason Waite recorded his first win of the series, after an excellent sprint finish. His sub 16min time was a life-time best for him. Well done Jason! Nyla Carroll keeps improving with another win in a very good sub 17min time. Tim Dutton and Terri Grimmett again won the walkers' race. Follow the link below for the results spreadsheet. Shipping containers on the course by Te Papa made for a longer course tonight, so we attempted to retain the 5km distance by bringing forward the turnaround point. However, despite best endeavours, we didn't get the turn in the correct place. Our estimate, supported by a number of people with those flash GPS watches, is that the course was 130m shorter than normal. Therefore, in the attached results we show 2 times - the first being your time for the (short) course and then another time which adds 130m on. Obviously it is up to you which time you take! Our sincere apologies for our error. Our sponsors Brooks, Lifestyle Sports in Tawa and The Loaded Hog continue to support our races and deserve your support in return. Just a heads up that the Loaded Hog will be closed in March while they undertake renovations. So we will probably not be able to supply the free drink you have come so use to. We will either adjust the entry fee down or increase the spot prizes to compensate.

Participation competition
As an added incentive to your training we can announce the return of the
popular Participation Competition.
If you compete in at least six events between now and the end of the series
on 6 April 2010, you will go into a draw for a range of great prizes.
So what are you waiting for? Put on those running/walking shoes and come
and join us on the Waterfront - be part of the movement.
Our regular weekly spot prizes from Brooks, Lifestyle Sports and the Loaded
Hog will also continue. A Brooks shoe voucher will also be handed out
soon.
And remember, all participants are rewarded for their efforts with a
thirst-quenching free drink at the Loaded Hog.
