Scottish Championships 2005, Clubhouse, 8 October 2005

The 2005 senior champions in action in the ANZ Mt Running Championships  in May: Michele Allison and Glenn Hughes

A good celebration of the highs of the Scottish year (and the P-Team achievements as well). Senior club champions are Michele Allison and Glenn Hughes.

A touching moment was the presentation by the captain of the masters women's relay team (Michele) of the relay baton to Jane Baxter.  Michele said this had been decided unanimously by the seven team members returning from Akaroa, thinking about the one who was not with them: "She had literally run herself into the ground for the team" and was recovering in Christchurch hospital.

Also settled on Saturday were the P-Team World Mountain Running Champions: male champion and setter of a new world record taking over from Todd Stevens -  Tim Hodge, with Glenn Hughes the runner up; and female - Tina Harris, with Della Laird second. Edwin Massey won best costume award.  A dispute also arose about whether consumption of a donut at the radar station was obligatory or not (this is on a par with asking whether running the second half of a marathon was required or not!).

Personality of the year went to fast-improving Rachel Kennedy, for whom the triumph of the year was winning the Ladies Open Handicap Cup for the race at Titahi Bay, despite the threatening cows and the assistance of Bruce Lake and Roger Price.
