The Loaded Hog 5k Series 3, Race 2, 24 January 2006

The Loaded Hog LogoFifty hardy participants fronted up this evening (one didn't report back to the finish line?!$?)– despite the rain and for many backing up from the half, 10k, or Tri which took place over Anniversary Weekend in Wellington. Whilst wet, it was still and warm with many doing very good personal times. Congratulations to all on your efforts – as well as the dedicated officials who also braved the elements and did a perfect job on marshalling, recording and time-keeping.

Mark Te Punga was first runner home tonight in a time of 16:49, followed closely by one of many International guests tonight in John Farrelly. First woman home was Wellington Scottish’s very own Woman’s Club Captain Rebecca Grainger with an excellent time of 18:55 – a huge PB, if I’m not mistaken. Not far behind were Lucy Whyte and Sally Spencer. First walker home was the evergreen John Hines in a time of 32:33, followed closely by first woman walker, Lynn Broad, with a good time of 32:42.

Given the conditions, the first time we have had rain for our 5k races (it has been close a few times in the past), it was great to be able to re-gather within the beautifully warm confines of The Loaded Hog’s Upstairs Function Room (this is available for hire by the way – for special functions of any type) and enjoy the complimentary beverage on offer. The weekly Loaded Hog spot prizes were again well received by those who stayed on. It’s possible we may have the boss of The Loaded Hog running with us in two weeks' time. Watch this space.

Thanks to Dan, Kathryn, David, Bob, Todd, Nev, Api, Glen, Paul, Jakob, Samantha and of course Paul in the background who posts these results on the website.

See you all in a fortnight – Tuesday, 7 February 2006 – same time – same place - better weather.

Jim Kerr, Race Series Organiser
