The Loaded Hog 5k Series 3, Race 6, 14 March 2006
92 participants this evening – with very good support from many participants of our special
fund-raising race for the Cancer Society’s Relay for Life appeal. A donation of $184 from Wellington Scottish was
made. However, I gather Fay Holdom (our Scotties rep) took away over $300 – reflecting significant other donations on the night. Thank you all
for your efforts.
Tim Hodge was the fastest runner tonight in a time of 15:32 (which according to Todd Stevens wipes out his previous best time on this specific course – sorry, Todd), well ahead of his nearest rival. Gabrielle O’Rourke was fastest woman (sorry about the oops at prize-giving Gabby!) in a time of 18:06, with Bernie Portenski just 17 seconds back.
Diane Isherwood took out the fastest woman’s race walk placing with a time of 33:39.
Ahead of her, however, were Johnny Hines (31:29) and Andrew
Shelley (32:19) being the fastest men.
Given the conditions (strong northerlies), some of the results were very slick indeed. Well done,
everybody. The weekly Loaded Hog spot prizes were again well received by those who stayed
on.
Thanks to Dan, Kathryn, Todd, Stephen, Karl (turnaround),
Maryanne and John Palmer for looking after the gear. Next week, we hope to have our Scottish video recorder out on the course to film runners/walkers – so that you can take a look at your style and critique any possible issues with respect to
mechanics. Many of you who have been participating in reps/drills at Newtown Park will know all about
this.
