The Loaded Hog 5k Series 3, Race 7, 21 March 2006

The Loaded Hog LogoJust the hardy few tonight - 42 participants this evening – with very good results for many who enjoyed a still night (after the rain had dumped and dissipated). Congratulations to those who did Loaded Hog 5k PBs – from those I quickly identified – Gabby O’Rourke (first time sub-18min this season), Nic Prendergast (first sub 20min run – great job!), Karen Gillespie (yet another sub-20min run – going well), Glen Wallis (edging closer to that sub-20min run), Roy Glass (excellent PB), Melissa Carr (broke through that elusive 21min barrier – well done!), Clare Sutton (took another chunk off her PB), Paul Crompton (broke through into the 23min times with another PB), Gavin Sutherland (a further PB on top of last week’s times). If I have missed some achievements of others, my humble apologies.

Andrew McCarthy (Valleys United) was the fastest runner tonight with 16:35, while Gabrielle O’Rourke (Wellington Harriers) posted the fastest women’s time of 17:32 – an excellent time. Only a small race-walking group tonight with Mick Rice (Wellington Scottish) posting fastest time of 36:56 and Clare Sutton recording 39:14 as the fastest woman.

Given the conditions, those who decided to stay at home and watch the Games on TV will be kicking themselves. Well done, everybody. The weekly Loaded Hog spot prizes were again well received by those who participated.

Thanks to Dan and Todd for helping officiate, as well as David out on the course testing our club video recorder. Next week, we shall be filming all runners – both out and back and following the race this will be replayed on the big screen – so stay on and have another beverage and see yourself in a staring role. For those who wish, copies can be provided to help examine running style, technique issues, etc. So don’t forget to put your favourite running gear on.

We may finally see some Loaded Hog people entering in the run next week – I look forward to this.

See you all next week – Tuesday, 28 March 2006 – same time – same place. Daylight saving will not require that we change race times: 5:45pm for walkers and 6:00pm for runners.
