The Loaded Hog Logo Excellent conditions for the fourth race saw 130 participants visit the far end of Oriental Parade (and fortunately no further this time). James Hurring won the race walk in 26:57, 25 seconds ahead of Amelia De Lorenzo. Dean Crowley, who has been race-walking for only a season or so, was third.

Daniel Clendon won a lonely race in 17:01, followed by Craig Grant and Gene McNaught. Next was the first woman, Sarah Christie, who clocked 17:43. Second was Gabby O'Rourke, followed by Alice Wilson.

Any idea who runner in place 36 might be (just under 21 minutes)?

Special mention should be made about Adrian Shields and Suzanne Cookson who stopped to help a runner who had tripped on the chain on the return and was winded. All three went on to finish.

A reminder about the participation and improvement incentive prizes to be awarded at the final race. We still don't have any prizes identified at this stage, but they will be well worth winning, says series organiser Jim Kerr. Remember that all participants who have competed in at least five of the eight races in this series will be guaranteed in the draw. Improvements will be interpreted liberally with the odd bad run being discounted (we're all entitled to a bad one now and again).

The Brian family are showing us how it’s done – all four family members have participated in each of the four races to date – and in fact all are in the running for the best improved over series – especially 9-year-old Hannah, who has now reduced her race time by roughly one minute each race.
