Loaded Hog 5k Early Summer Series, Race Four, 31 October 2006
First home tonight were the race walkers - Mark Woodhouse leading the race with a time of 29:40, followed closely by Mike Lane in 30:02 and third home was Ian Morton just 11 seconds back in 30:13. Quickest woman (31:29) was Sevana Minassian - albeit starting 1 minute 30 seconds after start time. No doubt she used that as incentive to catch the field. Second fastest was Melissa Carr in 31:45 and third was Ingrid Woodhouse in 32 minutes even. Both Melissa (by 2 seconds) and Ingrid (33 seconds) walked PB's again tonight. Fastest in the running race was newbie Gianluca Valsenti, who put a 16:33 time to go with his first time last week of 16:30. Well done, Gianluca - your number was drawn twice for a Loaded Hog spot prize but sadly you were not present to collect the spoils of your win. Second home was Brian Garmonsway in 17 minutes even and third was Tim Armstrong recording 17:05. Quickest woman tonight was young Alice Wilson, who took a huge chunk off last week's time to record 17:39. From my recollection, this is one of the fastest three times by a woman on our Loaded Hog 5k course this calendar year. So well done Alice! Second home was a past Wellingtonian of the Year - Bernie Portenski - with a time of 18:29 and third was Natalie Smith - recording just tick over 19 minutes in 19:02. Welcome back and well done to young Luke McDermott who broke the 20 minute barrier for the second time in his young life (13 years I think). No doubt many others with PBs and course records tonight. Well done to all who recorded a personal milestone. Thanks to Dan (welcome back from Hawaii), Kathryn and Bob plus the Scottish P Team crew of Glen, Api, Craig, Bruce and Ewan (turnaround). Great support of The Loaded Hog's recovery drinks tonight - I even saw some of the visiting World Golden Oldies Rugby players looking sideways with looks that said something like - "Gee, these fast athletes look like they enjoy their ales as much as we do!" Well, perhaps not quite. Ok, lets target the 100 participants for next week - get your mates along for a blowout before the Business House Challenge the following Wednesday. Plus it's Melbourne Cup Race Day next week so should be humming at The Loaded Hog. Jim Kerr Cumulative results | Spring series | Autumn series | Loaded Hog page
