Loaded Hog 5k Spring Series, Race Seven, 19 September 2006

It had to happen – the bad weather finally hit us tonight with a blustery northerly and rain hitting Wellington mid-afternoon. I would love to know how many took their clean running gear home again with them tonight. Shame on you! – still, 56 hardy participants finished tonight’s races.

First home overall was Angus Jennings in a time of 16:50 with Jim Brock not far behind in 17:01 and Bruce Millard next with 17:09. First woman home was Gabby O'Rourke - recording a shade over 18 minutes - 18:10 followed by the Scottish women's pack with Alice Wilson (18:58), Suzanne Cookson (19:04) and Bernie Portenski (19:07).

With only six walkers braving it tonight, Ian Morton was fastest in 31:32 with the fastest woman tonight being Leeane Palmer (34:10) and next was Lois Hart (35:09).

Sadly, no-one claimed the Special Bonus Prize I put on offer this evening – just run a lifetime 5k PB and win $100 cash bonus. Guess it must have been the conditions, huh!

Thanks to the Scottish officials who battled the elements tonight – Todd, Lotty, Neville (at registrations); Dan and Kathryn on the watch/recording; Noeline and Bruce on numbers/recording; Bruce at the turn. Sadly, we had to scrap the video recording of tonight’s race – next week perhaps!

Just two weeks left now in the first series of nine races – so if you have at least three results on the board, you can still get into the ‘Special Incentive’ draws with next two races.

See you all next week – Tuesday, 26 September 2006 – with light southerlies being the long range forecast.
