Nick Buck was third in the senior men (behind Robbie Johnston and Alan Bunce - Bays), as was Ariana Blackwood (running for Kawerau) in G11. WHAC's Kate McIlroy ran a solo race to win the senior women's title with a time that was six seconds outside Melissa Moon's course record of 16:55. Other top 10 finishes went to Ben Christophers (7M19) Suzanne Cookson (9W), Ben Revell (10M), Anne Hare (8W3544), and Pam Graham (6W45+).

The Centre Trophy (best three places over S, M and 16/19 grades) went to Wellington by six points. The Club Cup went to Pakuranga. Despite having 16 different grades, two team trophies, and a spot prize, the prize-giving, run by hosts Taupo Harriers, was over in just over 30 minutes - the kind of efficiency other events might emulate.

Scottish had 30 finishers, up on last year's 28. Overall, though, numbers seemed down this year - too much flu? too many injuries? too much rugby? not in school hols? too cold? (It got down to -4° by dawn on Sunday.)
