Athletics New Zealand Road Relay Championships, Takahe to Akaroa, Christchurch, 10 October 2009

Highlights: Scottish won two silver medals, 106 members ran in 14 teams, some all-night party records were set and plans are already underway for next year in Inglewood. The medals went to the senior men A and the junior men A. We were third in the club competition, behind Hamilton City Hawks and Pakuranga.

Fastest laps in their age grades were taken by Kees Keizer, Grant McLean, and Melissa Moon.

Injuries and unavailability (the date shift) meant some of our grade-contending teams were understrength. On the day, the weather proved testing with runners on nearly every lap being treated to bursts of rain, wind and sleet. Fresh snow dusted the tops. And wouldn't you know it, Sunday was bright and clear. 

As always, the event was well run (in both senses).
