From our Club Handicapper James Turner:

"Here are the results from today's Centennial Cup race (below). Great work from everyone out there, runners and helpers. I'm still shaking sand out of my hair!

A super turnout of 64 runners on our official opening day.

An impressive number of people beat the handicap (ie went faster than their predicted times). Fair enough, the race was a bit short of 5km (estimates were based on 5k road times) but it was seriously windy out there and there was a bit of off-road to negotiate and a tight turn back onto the road, so I reckon it was equivalent to a straight 5 in decent conditions. Winner on handicap was Loretta Desourdy, an impressive 35 seconds quicker than my prediction. Nicolas Vessiot was just 3 seconds back. Fastest runners on the day were Harry Burnard (15.54) and last year's Centennial Cup winner Amanda Broughton (18.45). Hope everyone enjoyed the big selection of scrummy food! Now, bring on the rest of the Harriers season!"
