The day dawned cold, frost on the vans and the grass and a crisp southerly making waves break on the south coast of the peninsula. Last-minute team changes were handed in (more than usual?) and the first wave of the senior event (76.6k, eight laps) was off.
Our teams who were in the top three of their grades were: Masters Women, 1st; Senior Men, 3rd; Senior Women, 3rd. Under the new scoring system where senior placings are scored higher than juniors and masters, Scottish was awarded Top Club for 2014 for these top places, on countback from Auckland City Athletics with Wellington Harriers third.
In the senior men's A grade, Scottish was 7th, and 8th in the C grade. Our team in the Open 50 grade was 10th. The Masters Men's team was 5th. Our second Senior Women's team placed 10th.
On the shorter course (40.7k, laps 2-5 of the senior race, with laps 2 and 5 halved for a total of six laps), our Junior Men came 11th, the Open 60 plus team was 6th and the Composite Social team scored a 9th.
