A good trial for a new course (from the Zephyrometer to Oriental Bay and back) and we were lucky with perfect weather - as befits the birth of spring. The Zephyrometer was almost vertical, bright orange in the sunlight - cherish that moment. It's a pity that many members (other than those at Feilding) missed out on the race on such a glorious day.

First home in the 8k open handicap race was Jasmine Brown, who therefore is the winner of the women's Arkwright Cup. Winner of the men's Tanadees Challenge Cup was Mike Hardiman (second win this year, Mr Handicapper!). The Tanadees Challenge Cup dates from 1928. Quickest male over the 8k course was Aaron Packard, while Helen Willis was the fleetest of foot among the women (for at least the third year in a row).

For the men and women 19 and under (senior juniors), Luke Foley and Claire Louise Hodge were the winners under sealed handicap of the Tanadees Shield and the Arkwright Trophy. Quickest over the 4k course were Luke Foley and Rebecca Bewick. The J-team had a sealed handicap race over 2k. The winner under handicap was Jonathan Hill, while Hector Farmer was the quickest. I don't know who won the post-race soccer.

In the handicap walk, also over 8k, Murray Gowans was first under handicap (and quickest), with Margaret Bray second.

Happy 50th birthday today to Charlie McAnulty.
