The drizzle largely held off for the four races on the programme, but the trails were greasy underfoot in this annual run around Whitireia Park. Kapiti Harriers women runner took the top three places in the seniors handicap 9.8k race: Michelle Laurenson, Bronwyn Kettle and Jos McDonald. Michelle Laurenson wins the the Kapiti Harriers' Onepoto Cup for her efforts.

Bev Hodge was the first Scottish woman around the course and so wins the Ladies Open Handicap Cup for 2003. The first officially handicapped Scottish man to finish was Chris Scott, winner of the Baudinet Cup for 2003. First Kapiti man under handicap was Warren Herlihy.

Fastest man around the peninsula was Stu Barr with Kapiti's Bruce Odams second. Michele Allison was the quickest woman.

Others wandered around the course, including Dean and Marguerite Christophers (using the Kapiti clockwise direction), Peter Pohl, Georgina Stevens, Helen Willis, Grant McLean and Brian Cattermole.

The Under 20 juniors had a sealed handicap road race over 3.8k. Fastest male and female were Ben Christophers and Ceallaigh Rodway. Winners under handicap were Shaun Hunt (Jenkins Trophy) and Jodi Laws (Elisabeth Jenkins Cup).

The J-Team (Under 14s) also had a scratch race over 2.05k. The actual winner was Tim Stewart of Kapiti. Rebecca Bewick won the Perth Cup for being the fastest GU14 under handicap, while Malcolm Hodge was the fastest boy BU14, winning the Patron's Cup.

The walkers held an all-comers handicap race over 6k which attracted 15 entrants. First under handicap was Maryanne Palmer and wins the Cole Land Cup for 2003. The fastest walker was Taranaki's Mike Lane, while Theresa Heenan was fastest woman. Peter Baillie disqualified himself as he knew that his injuries were not allowing him to walk legitimately.

Thanks to the stalwarts on the finish lines (John Turner, Peter Maunder, Kathryn Fraser, Phil Sadgrove), the marshals (Alan Stevens, Don Dalgliesh) and a big one to Simon Potter for his work in the kitchen.
