Friday 7:00am: Frictoria, meet at the top of Mt Victoria before jogging down together and finishing with a well-earned coffee.
FOCUS EVENT: Saturday 12:30pm: Wellington 5km Road Championships, Races start between 12:30 and 3pm. Reservoir Road, Wainuiomata. Afterwards, we are gathering at Baylands Brewery in Petone.
Saturday 2:00pm: The walkers will meet at Ngāti Toa Domain car park.
Scottish Pīwakawaka (Lennox Crowe, Jack Davies, Joel Carman, Ehsan Lorestani) won the whole 14km relay outright in 44:17.6, and also topped the Senior Men category.
Scottish Kākāpō (Eric Speakman, Nick Horspool, Geoff Ferry, Rowan Hooper) finished 3rd overall and won the M35 grade. Scottish Kākā were 7th in the grade.
Scottish Pūteketeke (O60) won their grade with Scottish Toroa 4th and Scottish Tui 7th. James Turner (leg 2, Scottish Toroa) had a big shift — his leg moved the team from 50th up to 40th place, a 10-spot jump in one leg.
Heather Walker led off the Scottish Kōkako W50 team with a 13:34.7 opening leg — comfortably the fastest split among the W50s — setting up the team’s win by nearly 7 minutes over 2nd placed Scottish Kea.
Paul Barwick (anchor leg, Scottish Takahē) ran the 4th-fastest final leg in the entire race, hauling the team from 11th to 7th overall on the last leg and sealing their M50 category win. Scottish Whio climbed leg by leg steadily (35th → 29th → 26th → 23rd), with Nicholas Bagnall's second leg being the biggest single gain.
Scottish Tītitipounamu were 2nd in Senior Women and Scottish Kārearea were 5th.
Scottish Tākapu (kids' Under-10 relay) and Scottish Kōtuku represented our juniors well.

NZ's biggest and friendliest 10000m race is on 14 November. We’re starting to organise now. If you’re interested in helping, send Stephen a message. As well as planning beforehand, we are looking for volunteers on the day to help with the registration desk, organising the lap counters, finish line, and race pacers (especially 32 mins, 35, 37.5, 40, 45, 50 and 60mins). The Annual General Meeting of Wellington Masters Athletics Incorporated will be held on Wednesday, 16 September 2026, at the Waiora Hub, 17 Bannister Avenue, Johnsonville, commencing at 7pm. Nominations are called for the positions of Patron, President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Nominations for Committee members are also called for, along with any Remits for discussion at the AGM. All nominations for the above positions and any remits are to be in the hands of the Secretary by Friday, 28 August 2026.

This flat-ish, out-and-back 5km along Reservoir Road is tucked between a hill and the Wainuiomata River, nicely sheltered from the wind — and it’s a great chance to run a fast time with a big pack to pull you along. It’s the club championship distance for our junior and W50+/M60+ masters runners, with separate Women’s and Men’s 5km Champs races for everyone else. Come along to race, support, or just cheer the lion home.
The last of the big interclub races for the season, held on a fast, sheltered out-and-back course at Wainuiomata Recreation Area. Free for Scottish members. This race also doubles as the primary selection race for seniors and masters 35 grades heading to the Road Relays.
The Hutt Half Marathon is one of the Hutt Valley’s premier running and walking events, offering a flat and scenic out-and-back course. Plenty of events to choose from – including a Cool Kids Kilometre, a 5km fun run, 10km run and walk, and the Half Marathon run and walk – so there’s something for everyone
The biggest weekend on the Scottish calendar — 100+ members away together for a full day of relay racing, a club dinner, and plenty of team spirit. Registrations close 15 September, payment due 24 September.
This Labour Weekend, grab three mates and get ready for the Pariwhero Relays, a brand-new four-leg trail relay taking on Wellington’s wild south coast at Red Rocks. Each team tackles four unique 8–12 km legs through some of the windiest, most scenic terrain the city has to offer — with registration from 7:30 am and the first runners off at 8:00 am from the Red Rocks Visitors Centre. Open to everyone, not just club members, so bring your team, carpool down, grab a coffee, and cheer each other through the handovers. Organised by our own Wellington Scottish member Matt Adams
